This is a mural of a cast iron fireplace painted straight onto a blank wall in a living room in ‘trompe-l’oeil’ style which is French for ‘to trick the eye’. This realistic type of painting is great for fooling guests & adding interest in any room. I travelled to North London to paint this fireplace freehand with acrylics, it took a total of 23 hours to complete. No design work needed for this one as the client wished for the fireplace to look the same as the photo to the right. Above right you can see the mural in the beginning stages. I had to be very careful with the edges of the mural as my client didn’t have any more of the paint the wall was originally painted with – meaning going outside the line would be disastrous!
